Welcome to TravelCalm. We are committed to protecting your privacy and providing transparent information regarding how we process and store user data. This Privacy Policy explains our data collection, processing, data retention, and data deletion practices across our Android mobile application ("App") and website ("Site"), located at travelcalm.samsuggest.com.

2. Mobile App Data & Sensor Disclosures

TravelCalm is built on a privacy-first model with transparent data handling:

  • Accelerometer & Gyroscope Sensors: The visual motion cues overlay accesses device motion sensors in real time to render moving horizon indicators. This sensor data is processed strictly in temporary Random Access Memory (RAM). It is never written to local disk storage and is never transmitted off your device.
  • Local Profile Storage: Profile details (name, age group, height, weight, pregnancy status, vehicle preferences) and Motion Sickness Susceptibility Questionnaire (MSSQ) responses are stored locally in your device's Preferences and SQLite (Room) database.
  • Optional Cloud Account & Sync: If you choose to create an account or sign in with Google, your profile metrics and journey history are securely synchronized with our web server (`travelcalm.samsuggest.com`) for cross-device backup.
  • AI Travel Coach: If you use the AI Travel Coach, queries are sent directly to the selected API provider (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Groq, or OpenRouter) using the API keys you supply. Your API keys are stored in encrypted local Android preferences and are never inspected, collected, or logged on TravelCalm servers.

3. Data Retention Policy

In accordance with Google Play Developer Policies and Privacy Regulations, we maintain clear data retention periods for all data types:

  • Real-time Sensor Data: Retained for 0 seconds. Processed exclusively in volatile RAM during active motion cue rendering.
  • Local App Profile & Symptom Logs: Retained on your device for as long as the application remains installed, or until you tap "Delete Account" inside App Settings.
  • Cloud Account & Synced Journey Records: Retained on our secure MySQL servers for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion request, all remote server records are permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • Website Contact Inquiries: Retained for up to 180 days after inquiry resolution for customer support context, then securely purged.
  • Newsletter Subscriptions: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • Server Diagnostics Logs: Technical access logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) are retained for up to 90 days for security auditing and server performance, after which they are automatically purged.

4. Website Data Collection

When you interact with our website, we collect minimal data required for services:

  • Contact Inquiries: If you submit a contact form, we collect your name, email, and message solely to respond to your inquiry.
  • Newsletter Subscriptions: If you subscribe, we store your email address in our secure subscriber database. You can unsubscribe at any time.

5. Cookies and Advertising

Our Site may use basic cookies to enhance navigation. We may integrate Google AdSense to serve non-personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.

6. Children's Privacy

TravelCalm does not knowingly solicit or collect data from children under the age of 13. Pediatric use of motion cues or breathing exercises should always be supervised by a parent or legal guardian.

7. Data Retention and Account Deletion Rights

You have full control over your personal data:

1. In-App Immediate Deletion: Open TravelCalm on your device, navigate to Settings > Account Settings, and tap "Delete Account". This permanently wipes all profile settings and local database records on your device.

2. Web Server Record Deletion: To request deletion of any contact submissions, cloud accounts, newsletter signups, or support history stored on our web servers, submit a request at /delete-account.php or contact us. We will permanently delete all web server records within 30 days of request receipt.
