🤖 Android App Exclusive Feature

The Visual Motion Cues Overlay is an **exclusive, on-device system feature** available only in the **TravelCalm Android App**. Since web browsers are sandboxed and do not possess system-level permissions to draw over other active applications, you can enable and customize this feature by installing our official app from the Google Play Store.

💡 How It Mitigates Motion Sickness

**Sensory Mismatch Resolution**: Motion sickness (kinetosis) is caused by a conflict in sensory signals. Your inner ear vestibular canals register physical movement and acceleration, but your eyes remain focused on a static object like a book or phone screen. This incongruence triggers the brain\'s defense system, causing nausea.

**Real-Time Visual Horizon**: Once enabled in the app, TravelCalm links directly to your device\'s built-in **accelerometer and gyroscope sensors**. It draws a semi-transparent grid of moving dots or lines that overlay your screen. When the vehicle accelerates, turns, or bumps, the dots move in the exact opposite vector (e.g. turning left causes dots to flow right). This provides your peripheral vision with simulated velocity cues, matching the inner ear vestibular input and neutralizing the sensory mismatch.

📱 Visual Appearance & Customizations in the Android App

â€ĸSystem-Wide Overlay: Once activated, the cues render as a system-wide floating layer. You can exit the TravelCalm app, open your web browser, read an e-book, or use navigation, and the subtle visual cues will remain active in the background over whatever you are viewing.
â€ĸDynamic Gain / Sensitivity: You can scale how dramatically the dots move in response to the vehicle\'s actual physical displacement.
â€ĸColor & Transparency Control: Adjust the color (e.g. high-contrast cyan, soft white) and opacity (transparency level) of the indicators to ensure they do not obstruct screen text or cause eye strain.
â€ĸGrid Density: Toggle the number and size of dots to fit your visual preference.
â€ĸAutonomic Sensor Smoothing: Employs low-pass noise filters to eliminate high-frequency engine vibrations, ensuring the cues only respond to genuine macro-kinetic shifts (turns, acceleration, braking).
